My Interests

I'd like to meet:

ANYONE Keen on and Busy making the world an even greater, Peaceful, enjoyable and Prosperous place. Economic Growth, Economic and Human Development (especially in Africa, Asia and Latina America) are examples of subjects I am passionate about. This end, the VISION and the CONVICTION are that EVERY HUMAN BEING on Earth has the potential and can live, can develop beyond the current First World standards.Yes, the 'theory' of the unequal five fingers of the hand simply remains ... a mere obscurantist theory. Economic Growth, Economic and Human Development 'feed on' Clean Water, Health, Roads, Education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business Enterprise...etc.
Mankind did exit the caves and is planning Interplanetary Tourism.Human Genius is still expanding.Academics and policy makers now agree that it’s a Human Right for everyone on Earth to have time and space to grow and to develop. Trinity College Cambridge (UK) Prof. Amartya Sen (2001) and The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 1998 equates Development with Freedom. "Economic growth is key to peace on earth." Thus spoke Lord Mayor David Lewis (CityA.M. 07 Jan. 2008, p.2).Corporate life teaches that it is every shift, every day that the company bottom line is made, created. With the input of every man and woman on the shopfloor. The war on bureaucracy and layers of managers in recent years on the back of Information and Communication Technology shows the key role played by customer facing operatives. Business parlance would put it along lines such as “Decisions being pushed down organisations”. “Grassroots levels” would evoke the same concept and reality when it comes to development. The ‘Ivory Tower’ mentality could prove unprofitable and costly. ‘Développement par procuration’ has all hallmarks of very bad policies. What happened to teaching people how to catch fish themselves for themselves? The consumers of development HAVE to be involved/implicated in the design and implementation of economy-growing and life-enhancing strategies. ‘Outsourcing’ development with experts local and/or global as well as Prêt à Manger, Prêt à Penser or Prêt à Porter development is a risky undertaking. To have a say and to be able to take ownership can be good for the soul. To have a say and to be able to take or share ownership might also generate local or consumer commitment. Economic growth, economic and human development are TOO important (today and for Generations to come) to be left to experts - local and/or global - alone. What is economic growth? Economic growth is the most fundamental indicator of an economy's health - the rate at which national income is growing. It is measured by the annual percentage rate change in a nation's gross domestic product (GDP). GDP is the economy's total income accruing from output - the market value of all goods and services produced within an economic area during a certain period. Does it have to be measured by GDP? Other measures of economic growth include gross national product (GNP), which measures the total output of a country's citizens regardless of where they are living and working; and per capita GDP, usually measured in dollars, which gives a more easily comparable picture of countries' economic health. However, GDP is the preferred measure for growth, as it indicates the amount of economic activity within a nation's borders. (Monday July 10, 2006 Guardian Unlimited) Business Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth, Economic and Human Development.

Entrepreneurship can be a very subversive activity, creating new structures, not just new products and services.

Entrepreneurs can help to restructure society, and create a new world order in which those who are smart, hard-working and positive move to the top.

Entrepreneurs can also help other wealth creators, and give back to society.

Meyer, Julie (2008), Entrepreneur country is coming. City A.M., 20 May 2008, p.6.

Markets are usually right, but sometimes they are dangerously wrong - and they need to be managed with decisive and competent government intervention.

Kaletsy, Anatole (2008), Save the world? Hank just didn't have a clue. The Times, September 25, 2008; p.24.“...society isn't just propelled by the policies of leaders, it's driven by the actions of millions.” Steel, Mark (2008), The Independent Wednesday, 29 October 2008.

“...there was no true substitute for a good education.”
