CYNICAL

As far back as he remembers Cynical has always been a performer. He remembers reciting hits for his classmates from stars such as Lil' Wayne, DMX, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man and many others both local and abroad. Eventually, Cynical turned to writing devices to express his innermost feelings on topics which were not accepted from a preteen by his English teachers. After about 3 months of this private self expression, he began to also share these with his peers during gatherings, it was accepted and “Herbaliss” was created. Years passed and talent grew, what was a relaxing past time was becoming a career choice. At this time Cynical was about 14 going on to 15, he and a few of his neighbours who were also intrinsically growing toward music began working almost as a group, performing for friends and even strangers on many occasions. It was with this group a greater inspiration appeared as studio time was collectively achieved and a few paths were crossed. Around 2004 Cynical attended a college in the United States of America, where he balanced school, parties and the passion for music as best as he could. His expression furthered as he continued to write, however it was in his early years in America he faced a career threatening obstacle. In a new environment, a lonely musician could not find the facilities to record tracks and advance. This is when Cynical proved to have dedication and perseverance, while adapting a new talent which would change his life forever. He went out and bought a stage mic and started recoding his own songs in what space he had in an apartment shared by 4, sending them home and with this he grew and harvested a sense of independence. This grew even more as he got bored with riddims (beats) that he was downloading at the time, Cynical indulged in building beats as a past time. Shortly after this he returned to Jamaica where he continued making beats and showed special attention in studying music and the industry. Not far from this Cynical has close to 100 beats, excluding those that are viewed as an introduction to composing, three physical hard cover notebooks of full songs, a certificate in engineering, a completion in writing music and piano at the grade 1 level. He has worked with artist such as “Warrior King”, The original groundation, foundation international recording artiste “Errold Dunkley”,” Triston Palmer” and The Great “King Yellow Man”. He has also gathered knowledge from Hit producer Sly Dunbar, getting a chance to see him work. Sly’s work has a great influence on his music along with producers such as “Steven Mc Gregor”, “Don Carleon”, “DASECA” amongst many others including some peers and some foreign acts. It is with this foundation; Cynical plans to jump start a fierce, consistent career and bring a movement to the forefront.
