Bruce L. Smith is a Denver-based writer and educator. An alumnus of Northwestern University, he earned his M.Ed. at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He plays with children of all ages at Alpine Valley School and makes music with the Ars Nova Singers . Much of his alleged free time is devoted to his nonprofit, the Center for Advancing Sudbury Education .
Mr. Smith is the author of When My Dad Was Little , a children's book that highlights a young boy's realization that while times have changed, his father, aunt and grandparents were once a nuclear family much like his own. Mr. Smith is also the author of Song of Life , an allegory about a bird who learns that optimism and a positive attitude can triumph over life’s disappointments. He recently completed his first Young Adult chapter book, Sudbury Suzy’s Great Escape.
When not writing or working with children, he enjoys singing, working on his chess game, and studying Spanish and Zen.
