United by Music

What is United by Music?The idea of the tour is originally brought up by two people, Joris van Wijngaarden, employee of the Carante Group and Candye Kane, American blues singer. They both feel that there is enough ground to continue the magnificent formula. An enthusiastic Candye tells in her web log how much she appreciated the tour and especially the spontaneous and warm reactions of the “special needs kids”, which she worked with on stage! Although it was searching for the right way to perform with them the first time, she would definitely like to continue the formula. Also Joris van Wijngaarden is very positive about the cooperation with Candye and this group. “Of course there are always improving points, but for me, Candye is absolute an artist who is able to anticipate at the formula in a sensitive way. Candye Kane is one of the top singers in the blues scene. And because the blues finds its origin in America, we choose an American band. Candye was able to select an amazing formation of top artists around her and also for the next tour we are looking what is possible.A team of volunteers worked on the last tour throughout the Netherlands. Each show contained performances of clients of different foundations, some who got the chance to perform with Candye's band and finally Candye performed in the finals. Auditions were held, locations were found and in October 2006 the first tour started! United by Music was a fact! Goal of the tour is integration and emancipation! Get people with musical talents (and an intellectual disability) on stage and let them be a real star!At the moment we are busy preparing a 'United by Music' Tour 2008 in the Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium). Plans for the coming future: a repetitive tour every year around the world. Next goal after the Europe tour 2008. The United States of America!
