Safari Club AntiNational is a photography club set up to provide photographers with the goal of capturing images of the most amazing creatures in the world in order to complete certain challenges set by the club. The photographs can then be emailed to the club and posted on the website for anyone, be they other photographers or school children to see, learn and enjoy.
The club was formed in Zambia, Africa where two amateur photographers and keen conservationists met several members of the world famous hunting organisation Safari Club International, who were travelling to South Africa to conduct hunting of a male lion amungst other endangered species. Horrified that this barbaric 'sport' was still taking place the friends decided to raise awareness of exactly what over 47,000 members deem as 'fun' by creating a club for photographers to shoot an entirely different type of weapon for the same 'honors' as those bestowed on the Safari Club International Members.
Such dubious 'honors' include trophy kills of, for example, African Lion, African Elephant, the highly endangered White and Black Rhino (which only MAY be darted), African Leopard and many many more of the planets most amazing creatures. If this was not enough the club also have several special awards for particular deeds of 'valour' for killing an entire category of animals, such as the Murdering the African Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, Cape Buffalo), or the 'World Predator Challenge' which includes the American Brown bear.
Safari Club AntiNational aims to replicate these challenges and special awards, but simply for the succesful capture of an image of the creature involved, who need never know you were there, just as nature intended. Images will be posted on the site along with a name, place and date that the animal was spotted and if you are successful in acheiving any of the Special Awards we will of course notify you and include your name on our site.
The aim of Safari Club Antinational, is not only to increase awareness of the hunting that continues to rid the world of its most wonderful creatures. It is an art gallery first and foremost, a place for like-minded people to discuss and present ideas and thoughts and also for hunters and pro-hunters to give us thier own opinion and ideas. We are all in charge of saving this world, so let us work together.
Remember, shoot to see, shoot to capture an image, a moment, shoot to be amazed, but never shoot to kill.
