YoungMoney aka THA NEWBREED

About Me

In the summer of ’72, Deondas Goodson A.K.A. YoungMoney was born in the streets of College Park, Ga, where he was raised in the projects by a single parent mother and his beloved grandmother Doris E. Goodson. They both had a long task in front of them.
By trying to keep YoungMoney from selling drugs, robbery, and out of crime’s way, the two of them had many a sleepless night. Their dedication to providing him with strict rules and regulations worked until he got about 12 years old, which is when all his trouble started. Young Money began hanging with friends that were stealing cars, committing robbery, and even considered joining a gang. By the age of 15, he was caring guns and starting selling drugs. YoungMoney kept his drug dealing activity low key, But on the other side of town (south side of Atlanta) College Park- his older brother ( his only brother) got shot in the head by one of his friend’s. So from that day forward, it changed his view about the streets and on his friends.
By the time he was 20 years old, he learned everything it was to know about selling drugs. Young Money started to carry lots of guns from glocks, Tec 9’s, 9mm; Ak’s…anything that carries shells. You name it, he had it. One year later he was over his mother’s house in a drug zone- and was arrested for a weapon’s charge. But he got off with probation and two days in jail.
He told his mother and grandmother he thought it was time for a change. He had a little girl born a few months later. Young money started to change his life around. No drug involvement, no guns, and no crime. He distanced himself from that by writing raps about how he felt and how he felt about the streets.
He put himself around good people. A few of his friends that weren’t selling drugs wanted to start a rap group so they did; they called it 47 family. They did a couple of recordings. The group then went their own separate ways.
With the group broken up, he got back into selling drugs. But soon after that, one of his friends from the group 47 family got involved with drugs also, and got arrested. It was obvious to him that he could either have his freedom or not- there was no in-between.
So, he formed another rap group with some friends from his job - called Three Deep. They recorded 6 to 8 tracks together and did a few shows.
The group is no longer together but they keep in touch with each other. YoungMoney went to work on his solo career as a rapper. His influence in the rap game is from great lyricists such as Tupac, Eminem, Jay Z, Biggie, and 50 cents because he loves the way they put songs together from their lives and make the fans feel every word they are saying.
That’s the product he is giving to the industry. He will keep working hard until he gets there.
Personal note from Young Money: I would like to thank my friends who have taken time to listen to my music. Thank you. Also thanks to my beautiful mother Elizabeth Goodson and my beloved grandmother Doris Goodson for making me the man that I am. I love you very much. I would also like to thank god for giving me this talent. Rest in Peace. Grandmother Doris E. Goodson 1924-2000 and Cousin Rico Spear 1982-2000.
