About Me

A Resurrected Dream Dreams do not work unless you do...Crystal M Madison Raised in the projects at a young age I was frequently reminded that we lived in poverty. My loving mother was forced to become a single parent after a bad divorce which left us struggling to survive. My mother did the very best she could yet and still our household was very underprivileged. The older I grew the more evident it became that I had a gift to style hair so at the age of 17 I practiced styling hair on friends and family in my mothers kitchen which eventually lead to me building a decent clientele I always dreamed of owning my own salon and becoming a well known stylist but reality always sunk in and reminded me that my mother was living from paycheck to paycheck to get by and the little money I made help me to stay somewhat fashionable but circumstance always dictated that we were disadvantaged. I remembered me and my oldest sister when I was younger having to walk miles just to go to the grocery store and one particular day we had to walk miles again only to walk back with five heavy bags on each side of our arms but this time in a blizzard because we didn't own a car and the little money we had had to only go for grocery's so we couldn't afford a cab. so...riding a bus or catching a ride with folks just to get from here to there for many years was a regular...I remember saying on that day I'm going to be somebody smart making a lot of money and I will own my very own car and never will I walk to the store ever again I will drive my family up to the store and pay somebody to put our bags in my car...I proclaimed it while I was holding my hands over the opened stove to defrosting my tiny fingers watching the blood race back into my hands from carrying all those heavy unbearable bags. You see I had a dream..... Poverty is not just a state of living but can be a disturbance of ones mind. Living unsuccessfully can affect your way of thinking. My life journey in my past was a proof of this observation. For example: I had to repeat the 12Th grade only to move on later having 2 children out of wedlock living dependent on Government assistance and of course due to my surroundings I made other bad choices which I truly regret. My life was like a ticking bomb ready to explode, therefore, my dream of being a well known stylist and owning my own salon had died.... I have come to realize that values you live with expose your true behavior. Your true behavior exposes your values. My bad habits were easy to embraced because I was surrounded by kindred minds who embraced the same values and ideas. I now feel that we (those who live with emotional poverty) must go outside our familiar surrounding and become exposed to better values. I was fortunate to get an idea of a better life when I chose to become a shampoo assistance/apprentice for Dr. Dee Dee Freeman of Spirit of Faith Christian Center. To my surprise she was not only a Senior cosmetologist who could cut the flyest Halle Berry page boy cut (you know the famous cut when Halle played co star with Eddie Murphy in Boomerang) but she was a Pastors Wife who loved to mentor young ladies. Oh boy she didn't know what she was getting into when she hired me.yes she worked me to death but I worked her by keeping her on her knees I'm sure a moment didn't go by when she had to go to the Father on my behalf....I was a mess waiting to be blessed. Dr.DEE Dee taught me how to love God, impeccable work ethics, courage, faith, and hope...It took some years but I finally got it and went on to receive my cosmetologist license. Amazingly she still saw hope for me and continued to be an encourager. My dream became resurrected and my feet was placed on hope road.15 years later at the age of 33 my hairstyles have been recognized and portrayed in the well known international UPSCALE magazine, million dollar black hair product named Nairobi, I’ve been graced to style the hair of nationally known anchor women, models, pastors wives, politicians and currently I'm working on my first book titled "A Resurrected Dream". I've been told the best is yet to come. Specializing in healthy hair living here in Atlanta Georgia have caused me to love movable hair...I am experienced in conservative to trendy looks what you need I got it...I love doing hair that's all I’ve known to work for me so years ago I decided to go for it and take this career as far as I can. Thanks to my loving daughters Diamond, and Topaz they have been my biggest cheerleaders and my undying inspiration. Now my daughters don't have to live in poverty and have a chance of a brighter future because I chose not to become subjected to my circumstances but fought to overcome every obstacle and to climb up out of every ditch....For without faith it’s impossible to please God. Become empowered for Change. You can have the same power to bring about change...purpose awaits you and remember dreams don't work unless you do...so lets get to work Be encouraged Lady Crystal M.
