New York based songwriter Simon Parker has no talent whatsoever. The man can barely string together 3 chords on guitar. The man plays piano without using his thumbs, and has been known to record bass by sliding his index finger up and down the fretboard. In his studio, he still has problems bussing tracks, getting the right mix for vocals, and can barely keep a tune in tune with autotune on 0. Yet he still has managed to put together some impressive credentials to date as both a songwriter and producer.
Simon has developed several acts to the point that they were ready for record deals. His songs have been included in several large music libraries as well as catalogs of platinum producers. One of his current projects, Kate Fletcher was the featured artist for July 2009 at www.taximusic.com, and is currently being looked at by no less than 6 well known labels. Simon also has started to develop relationships with many labels, interacting with Hollywood, Columbia, Jive, and Warner Bros records as recently as July 2009. Simon also has some upcoming collaborations with some top notch songwriters.
I guess if you replace talent with hard work, you can accomplish what Simon has already done.
