I guess you could say I've always looked for the best in all people & things. The truth of the matter, however, is that much of the time, the best in life is hidden but that doesn't mean one must give up hope, lose faith or stop looking for the good life has to offer.
What is it about the film "It's A Wonderful Life"? Is it the sentimental value about the importance of the individual, that strikes a chord with so many? Some people think the success of the movie was based around the season, but I don't buy into that theory one bit. The time of year has little to do with motion picture quality. Rather, I think It's a Wonderful Life is so loved because it effectively touches upon one basic truth of life that we all would like to believe -- that each of us, no matter how apparently insignificant, has the power to make a real difference, and that the measure of our humanity has nothing to do with fame or money, but with how we live our life on a day-to-day basis.
It's a Wonderful Life asks & answers a question that all of us think of at one time or another: "What would this world be like if I had never been born?"

We can "settle" or we can push forward & outward, reaching for higher limits each & every day. I believe we can all have what we want in life if we keep an open heart & mind, while helping others along the way attain their goals & dreams.
Timing is almost always a key factor in all things good or bad. The only thing separating a person who wins the Nobel Peace Prize or becoming President of the United States from a person on death row is a "choice" that led to a circumstance.
We make choices in our lives throughout every day & there are consequences to the choices we make. If enough people realized that our values & core belief system's actually dictate the outcome of our lives, there just might be less poverty, less homelessness, less grief, dispair, anger and resentment among people in the world.
I think there is a little of George Bailey in all of us. Unfortunately, many share the same traits, greed and habitual manerisms as Henry Potter too! One of my favorite scenes in "It's a Wonderful Life" would have to be the scene where Clarence, the angel, actually grants George his wish that he had never been born.
Clarence leads George on a mystical journey through time and space showing him how the people and the town would have ended up had he not been born. Some call this the "Dicken's theory"<'i> as Charles Dickens used this concept in "Scrooge" to show the old geaser the error of his wicked ways so that he would in turn find a new appreciation for the gift of life.
Combine the message of It's a Wonderful Life with the outstanding host of characters, plot and story-line, and it's easy to see why It's a Wonderful Life isn't just a holiday favorite, but a great movie by almost any standards. There are a few cynics who will disparage this film, but, in a "feel good" genre clogged with imitators & inferior features, It's a Wonderful Life stands high above the rest. Whether you view this film in the middle of the summer or at Christmas, Capra's greatest film & Jimmy Stewarts favorite role of all time represents one of the most transcendent & joyful experiences any movie-lover can hope for.
