The "Blackhorse blues band" was first formed in 1995 by original founder and bass player "Randy Peters"who's influences go back to his early teen days listening to all the old Blues records that he had amassed.
Since the band's inception in 1995 up into 2005 the band had gone through many line-up changes, with bass player RANDY PETERS being the one constant in the band, since July 2005 up into the present time, the current lineup, now consists of (Randy Peters-Bass/vocals)..(Al Gonzales-Drums/percussions)..(Rick Hummingbird Parrish-all guitars/vocals).This new stripped down trio has tightened up their sound forging a thick heavy sound reminiscent of "SRV","Indigenous"....All three band members stated that "WE WERE NOT,AND ARE NOT, AFTER A PARTICULAR SOUND OF SOME OTHER BAND"....When B.H.B.B. opened the show for "INDIGENOUS" in October 2008 frontman "MATO NANJI" stated to B.H.B.B. "You guy's sound really good",
proving that dedication and very hard work does pay off...And for their hard work B.H.B.B.did secure some high profile shows in 2008 and word is spreading fast about this Blues Trio that is based out of "UKIAH" CA..."BHBB"has logged thousands of miles in the past couple years from northen ca.to southern ca.and east to "Reno Nevada".
"BHBB"has opened shows for Rock heavyweight... "EDGAR WINTER"..."JOHNNY WINTER"..."INDIGENOUS"... "JOHN LEE HOOKER JR."...southern rockers "THE SAM MORRISON BAND"...And the greatest biker band in the world..."THE FRIED BRO'S BAND".....
"BHBB" has done two live radio shows, the first was for a bilingual station (KBBF)in SANTA ROSA CA. in 2006, the 2nd was for a BERKELEY CA.station(KPFA)in 2007 that was broadcast from the stations satellite studio in Santa Rosa Ca.
The band has slowed it's booking down considerably to concentrate more fully on there upcoming recording project.Guitarist Rick(Hummingbird)Parrish stated ("We are going to start recording in January 2009 ,it's our own material,we'll be playing the new material at our shows, hopefully people will like our new material").Bassist and band founder "Randy Peters says ("playing cover songs is oK, but, performing our own songs will be more gratifying and rewarding, and I believe that is how we will be more recognized").Drummer/percussionist Al Gonzales says("the new CD material has a little Jazz a little Funk and a whole bunch of blues").
As 2009 is now upon on us, we in the music community believe very strongly that 2009 is the year that "THE BLACKHORSE BLUES BAND" will have a breakout year.A UKIAH Ca. periodicle said in an article about "BHBB"("This horse sure can ride").
