&nbsp ciandress redefines what it means to be a female in the music industry. not swayed by the compulsion to be overly "gangsta" or overtly sexual, ciandress simply strives to make "artis gratis artis", or art for art’s sake. reminiscent of the profound MC Lyte, or even the prolific Lauryn Hill, ciandress'story telling, lyrical wit, and rhythmic rhyming abilities are the instruments that make her stand out in a cacophonous band of aspiring musicians jaded by the love of money, industry politics, and peer pressure.
&nbsp a native of newark, new jersey, ciandress joins a host of other great emcees and hip hop legends including queen latifah, redman, naughty by nature, rah digga, the fugees, and lord of the underground to name a few. while born in newark, ciandress’ role as a military brat carried her all across the world where she was exposed to a variety of cultures and people, places and spaces. her broad exposure to so many worlds is evident in her music as she touches on social issues that are felt by people all over the globe.
&nbsp ciandress is not merely an artist; but also, an esteemed intellect who earned a BA in sociology from the distinguished university of virginia in 2004. with an observant and vigilant eye, ciandress captures the realities of life and translates them poignantly translates them into song.
&nbsp during her days at UVA, ciandress hooked up with Trew, another aspiring hip hop artist out of richmond Virginia. Trew welcomed ciandress into his inner circle entertainment crew, and has supported her in her growth and development as an artist over the years. ciandress and the inner circle set, featuring trew, jacob lotto, simon p, mike corleon, and rideout, are beginning to make waves in the industry. Trew just released his debut album “the big chill” which is now being distributed worldwide. after moving to Atlanta in 2007, ciandress also partnered with Surban Music Management, a publishing company who also expressed sincere belief in her music and her capabilities.
