Nordgarden is a Norwegian singer/songwriter from Hamar, a small town just north of Oslo. He was born and raised in the countryside, where the rest of the world would be distant and far away. One day he decided to head for the big city to hear a man called Bruce Springsteen. Ever since that day nothing would be the same. He bought his first acoustic guitar, began writing his own songs and spent one year studying songwriting at a music school. After fourteen months of civil service he decided to go south and began a life of busking in the streets of Bologna, Italy.Eventually he was discovered by Italian indie label Stoutmusic. With whom he released his first cd, “Terje Nordgardenâ€. His debut was well received by both the media and the crowd and he played over 50 gigs around in Italy, among others on the Main Stage at the Arezzo Wave Festival in 2003.The same summer he went back home to Norway to discover his roots. He began the work on what would become the album “A Brighter Kind of Blue†which would be released after years of touring. In the meantime he also had to go through a crucial operation on his vocal chords that prevented him from singing for half a year.Overcoming all obstacles the album was finally released in Norway in June 2006 and it got the Norwegian press cheering; Stein Østbøe at VG wrote: “The closest a Norwegian singer/songwriter has come the timeless qualities of Ryan Adams†– in Italy the renowned magazine Rolling Stone stated it was “A mature and a convincing albumâ€. The album became a personal milestone and defined Nordgardens sound and opened up the doors to several countries.
