ME ZIPLINING IN THE JAMAICAN JUNGLE DEC.2006Tam welcomes you to her site!I have loved music since I was just a little girl. I was raised in a musical household with a real musical mother to teach me. Most of my early memories of music are playing my Olivia Newton John records and singing into a hairbrush until I got a real microphone! Boy was that fun!I started writing songs when I was 16 years old. I attended alot of songwriting workshops throughout the years since then. When I was 18 I moved away from home and became a missionary with Youth With A Mission for about 4 years. I have traveled to almost 40 countries to date. Many of them during those years. I performed in the Drama "Toy Maker and Son" and also did street evangelsim and performed with many music teams. Some of my favorite countries were Guatemala, Mexico, Singapore, and Japan. I learned so much about serving other during those wonderful years. I helped alot with songwriting too.I started taking my songwriting seriously in about 1994. I won my first song writing award that year in Nashville Tenn. from the Academy of Gospel Music Association. First place Inspirational song of the year for my song "Hold me Close". That kind of lit my fire and I really knew I wanted to write. Since then I have won about 15 National Songwriting and vocal awards. Including Runner up in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for a children's song I wrote called "Through the Night". I was honored to win CCM Album of the year, Overall album of the year and Songwriter of the Year from Just Plain Folks in 2002 in Hollywood Calif. That was quite a fun moment!On the performance end of things. In 1998 I opened for and performed with Nashville CCM recording artist Greg Long. I opened for Essential Recording Arists FFH in Oklahoma City. I also opened for Smooth Jazz saxophonist Eric Marienthal in Feb. of 2006. He is an amazing sax player.
