THE DEPARTMENT...
The Department is a new London rock band comprising of Rob Green (guitars, synths & vox), Christian Bourne (lead vocals, guitar) and Simon Farmer (guitars, vox).
All of the above work freelance in the sound department of the film business - hence the name The Deparment (see what they did there?).
When work was becoming thin on the ground at the end of 2008, they decided to get together, pool their influences and form a band. the rest, as they say, is history!
The Department are continuing to write new material with a view to an album and gigs later this year. As they are all talented musicians with histories in the music business, their sound is not only raw, but accomplished.
Their first track 'Rattlesnake' is first on the player above and is probably playing now...
ROB GREEN...
Rob Green had been off the music circuit for 8 years, working in the movie business as a sound man when he formed The Casey Jones Effect with Nick Hook. They soon won a record deal with Baroque Records for 'Electrify Me' which is out now.
Back in the late 90's, Rob was one half of Brutal Deluxe with Barry Ashworth (The Dub Pistols) on Feargal Sharkey's X-Records imprint before signing with the legendary Jackpot Records as Shango and Later, Boom Unit (with Jules from Mother). DJ's like Sasha, John Digweed and Paul Van Dyk were spinning his tunes.
During this time he DJ'd at venues such as the Hacienda and UK Midlands, was signed to Whoop Records as Absurd (with Paul Rogers) and The Pumpkin Club, wrote for magazines such as Mix-Mag and also found time to remix a string of artists for major labels like Polydor and Warner, including Robbie Williams with then remix partner, Danny Howells.
The tunes on this page represent some of Rob's new musical directions. These tunes are hot off the press and some are unsigned so if anyone is interested - please get in touch. Enjoy!
