Born July 20, 1962 at the Teague Hospital in Teague, Texas. (The building was converted to a Pentecostal church years ago, and is right behind the Dairy Queen, that was built in the 70's). A good thing that the Dairy Queen didn't exist at the time, or I would have ordered the "Hunger Buster" combo with fries and a Coke! Bundled up, taken home, and ready to rock!Married to the love of my life Lisa Owen Gann for nine years. Two sons Jeremy (20) and Cody (16). One brother J.C. Gann, Jr. (Fairfield, Tx.) One sister Carolyn Boone (Hernando, Ms.) Owner of Mike Gann Tractor Sales, a farm equipment/trailer dealership. Authorized dealer for Parker Trailer Sales, Inc. (Mt. Pleasant, Tx.), Priefert cattle and ranch equipment (Mt. Pleasant, Tx.), Texas Red Farm Equipment (Henderson, Tx.), and Hay King (Taylor, Tx.) Lisa and I also co-own Texas Chic, located directly across the street from my business. A paradise for shoppers of bling. Cowgirl accessories (belts, purses, jewelry, etc.), as well as western decor, and bedding. We can also get you that piece of rustic furniture that you want for your house. On top of everything else, I'm also a musician. (Keyboards, acoustic guitar, bass guitar). My brother Jay, gave me his worn-out album of "Something New" by The Beatles when I was five years old. I still have the record, and it put me on the path of being a music fanatic. When he joined the Army in 1972, he also gave me a box of his old 45's. Inside the box was a 45 of "Hush" by Deep Purple. The organ solo on that one record told me that I wanted to be a keyboard player. I took a few piano lessons at age 12, and then I took organ lessons from Mr. L.V. Johnston from Corsicana from the age of 13 to 17. Mr. Johnston taught me mainly how to play pop songs from the 1910's-1960's era, where I learned a lot about chord progressions and melodies. Everything else that I picked up, was out of music books after that. Once that I had an ear for music, I also played along with records and tapes by my favorite artists, whether they were country or rock. Mr. Johnston heard me play a few years later and exclaimed "You don't play the way that I taught you how to play! You've expanded! How did you do that!". (A lot of work and determination, and the grace of God, I suppose). I am my worst critic, and I never play good enough to suit myself. Oddly enough, I had to buy a bass guitar and amp and learn how to play bass, before I was hired into my first performing band. No one was looking for a keyboard player at the time. I later switched back to my primary instrument in 1989, when Diamondback was first formed.Bands that I have played with:I played bass guitar for Stillwater (1985) and Bounty Hunter (1986-1988). I then went back to keyboards. Diamondback Texas(1989-1990) (1992-1994) (1997-2000), Cadillax (1991-1992), Fuzzy And The Fairlanes (1994-1995), Painted Desert, (1995-1997) (2000-2005), Barrelhouse (2005-) Barrelhouse is a rock band led by W.D. Holder. We play a mix of classic rock, alternative rock and blues. Besides W.D. and myself we have former Painted Desert drummer Jim Dugger. We have two bass players that step in to play gigs with us from two Waco area bands. Stan Norman of Wes Hardin & The Country Outlaws, and Mike Donahue of the Sonny Mac Blues Band. I still reunite with both Diamondback Texas and Painted Desert for the occasional gig. EQUIPMENT:Kurzweil SP-88, Korg CX-3, Peavey KB/A 300 Amp (It's been with me for ten years now, and could tell some tales), Kay acoustic guitar. My favorite food is Mexican food. Chinese food and Cajun food are both close runners-up. Medium rare steak, burgers, and pizza. Beans and cornbread. Corn on the cob. A good salad with Thousand Island or Honey Mustard dressing. Fried shrimp and oysters, jambalaya, red beans and rice, cole slaw, and crawfish etoufee. I hate broccoli and spinach. Don't serve me anything with either one in them. All of the cheese in the world, won't help. My favorite restaurants are "Sammy's" (Fairfield, TX.), "Italian Village" (Corsicana, TX.), "Summer Palace" (Corsicana, TX.), "Buzzard Billy's" (Waco, TX.) "Logan's Roadhouse" (Waco, TX.) "Cinco de Mayo" (Conroe, TX.),"Jalapeno Tree" (McKinney and Henderson, TX.) "Blind Tiger" (Shreveport, LA.), "Heritage Buffet", Ameristar Casino, (Vicksburg, MS.), "Blues City Cafe" (Beale Street, Memphis, TN.), "Underwood's" (Brownsville, TX.) Favorite domestic beer is Miller Lite. Favorite import beer is Corona with salt and lime. Jose Cuervo Gold tequila(with salt and lime), when I'm feeling bold and want something a little stronger. A spicy hot Bloody Mary, or a Margarita on the rocks are also both nice. I used to love Jim Beam, but Jim didn't love me.Three things that you won't catch me doing. Cheating on my wife, drinking on the job, or trying to screw someone out of money. Don't ask me to go to an adult club with you guys. Divorces are like D.W.I.'s You can't afford them. For some reason, I was blessed with perfect pitch. Play any song on the radio, and I can tell you what key it's in. Hell, turn on a ceiling fan or blow in a beer bottle and I will tell you what key it's in. A long running joke with Lanky Moore, the vocalist from Diamondback is: "Gann called and said that your guitar is out of tune!"I also sell 45 RPM and 78 RPM records on eBay under the name of victorianvocalion. I live to search for records in junkshops, and antique shops. If I don't want it for myself, someone else usually will!Things that I don't like are:Rude/arrogant people (You may think that you're better than I am, but that's just a fantasy. We are all born equal). Sour milk. Flat beer. High fuel prices. All of the damned taxes that comes with being a small business owner.RELIGION:I was born a Southern Baptist on both sides of my family. I believe in God and Jesus Christ, but I'm not a churchgoer. I'll quote a preacher that I heard speak at the recent funeral service of a friend. "Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger". God and I have our own chats on my turf. Don't judge me, and I'll do the same for you. We all have skeletons in our closet.More cool stuff at MyspaceMusicVideo.com
