The band PLAYBUTTON was founded in the summer of 2001. Lead singer Jerard Ingenito was playing his solo acoustic shows when he was introduced to bass player Hugh Burnside. The two hit it off and along with freelance percussionist Megan Franklin formed what has now become the infamous PLAYBUTTON.
PLAYBUTTON has performed all over Atlantic County. From Le Grand Fromage, to Crocktails, Corkys in the Tropicana, the Flying Cloud, the Ducktown Tavern, and has been resident bands in all three Malonies bars. PLAYBUTTON now have recently been performing at The Trinity Irish Pub @ the Pier of Ceasers Casino/Hotel. You may have already seen or heard PLAYBUTTON but havent made the connection since PLAYBUTTON have gone through many name changes. First called Summers Eve; then Duct-town; then Live Trio.
In the winter of 2005 PLAYBUTTON decided to expand their BONGO BEACH attitude and turn up the volume. Jerard and Hugh acquired one of the premiere drummers in South Jersey Tom Steel (TSOD), and together mixing the old set lists with the new songs have established themselves as one of the most eclectic local bands in the area. PLAYBUTTON writes and performs its own material and plays cover songs from Jack Johnson to Flogging Molly; The White Stripes to Bob Dylan. They even do covers of Notorious B.I.G and The Fugees. PLAYBUTTON admit to being heavily influenced by The Dave Mathews Band, but also pay homage to bands like Sublime, Bad Religion, and The Pixies. PLAYBUTTON'S original songs strike the listener as feel good rhythms and happy melodies, but are drenched with lyrics of pain, loss and agony. You have to hear it to believe it.
