Hi, my name is Eileen McDonald, formerly it was Helder, I was born at home, in London, Battersea, in 1959. I lived in a very happy environment, being part of a hugh family, (I have 9 sisters & 8 brothers!) At the age of two, I had a small but freak accident which changed my life forever, I cut my middle finger/right hand whilst playing in the garden, this led to me spending the next four years of my life in St. Thomas' Hospital, in Lilian Ward for Children. No-one knew that I was born with a rare blood disorder which lead to my 'trival' cut becoming life threatening, if I had cut my middle finger/left

hand, I wouldn't be here today to tell this story! After numerous operations, & baffling the doctors, I was finally diagnosed with Osteo-mylitis, a disease which attacked & destroyed my thema bone. I was now classed as disabled as I had in my four year stay in hospital grown into a 'normal' six year old, but my right leg remained the size of a two year old! I went to a special needs school in Tulse Hill, London, called Thurlow Park School for Physically disabled Children, here I spent the next ten happy years & made some very good friends. On leaving school I attended college, had various jobs, met my husband & had two wonderful children, a Daughter, then a Son. Now at the age of 48, I am a very proud Grandmother to a beautiful baby girl, that my daughter had in 2006! I have done many wonderful things in my life & spent a happy time doing so. Until recently, I hadn't heard from anyone from my school, then my husband bought my first computor, something I hadn't been interested in before, it opened up a whole new world to me, & I met an ex school-mate, Tracy, & its been great chatting & getting to know her again. My life so far has been great!!
