The Replicants Inc. was found on the premise that there is a lot of good music in Philadelphia that doesn't get enough attention. We want to educate and inform you, the music enthusiast, about what a great music scene Philadelphia has. We do this through our Magazine (The Compendium) and through our web site (localmusicnetwork.com). Inside the magazine you'll find Columns written by people involved in the local scene and interviews with local performers. Our web site picks up where the magazine leaves off. It is a resource for finding local music and a place to share your thoughts on that music. We give you the information, you build the scene.
Why are we doing this? The reason is simple. We love music and want to pass that passion on to you. We believe that Philadelphia has some great talent in it's back yard. Unfortunately it's really hard to get any sort of buzz going. One theory is that Philadelphia doesn't have adequate media coverage of local music. Well I'm not sure that's entirely true. TV, Radio, and Publications can only expose us to so much, at some point we need to take the scene into our own hands and really get behind it. The first step in that process is being informed. Philadelphia has such an eclectic mix of music. Take the time and do some research on our homegrown talent and I bet you'll find some groups that will amaze you. Let's work together and build this scene.
It's an exciting time in Philadelphia. Let's rock this city!
