About Me

..

Welcome Poker Fanatics! Above the Rail is MySpace's portal to the latest news in the professional poker world. With an up-to-the-minute blog on poker tournament outcomes, news articles, and a Player of the Year Leader Board, Above the Rail will keep you in tune with professional poker players everywhere around the world.

Our leader board is based on a statistical formula that does not give point preference to tournaments with status (the World Series, WPT) like many other leaderboards. The outcome is a truer vision of a professionals skill. Want to know who the best poker player is? Our leaderboard will tell you! Also, watch videos of our featured player of the week at the peak of their career.

New 2008 Highlights

David Chiu won the WPT Championship at the Bellagio. It was the biggest victory of his career, and he beat out 545 other players and took home $3.3 million. He battled back from a shorstack during heads-up play against Gus Hansen, who had eighty percent of the chips. Chiu is a long time pro with 4 WSOP bracelets, but this is the biggest win of his career.

Gus Hansen played all the way to the heads up position for his fourth WPT title at the WPT Championship. He was an impressive former WPT champion and knocked out everyone at the final table except for Chiu. He brought home $1.7 million and furthured his reputation as a top player

Top pro Erik Seidel finally won his first WPT by taking down the Foxwoods Poker Classic. He beat an impressive field of 346 players to win just under a million dollars. He has won eight WSOP bracelets, but this is his first WPT win.
