Hi, I'm Rich Sawyer and from 1990 until 2005 I was the original drummer and a founding member in the LONGEST RUNNING KISS tribute band "DRESSED TO KILL" (UK).With some 15 something years of playing the 'catman' I've had the opportunity of travelling throughout the world, visiting some wonderful countries which includes Japan, help film TV documentaries for MTV (Headbangers Ball, KISS Special), the BBC (When Rock Ruled The World) and C4 (Rock School with Gene Simmons), meet Ace Frehley, Lydia Criss, and perform with Mark St.John, Bruce Kulick and THE CATMAN himself Mr Peter Criss at the '94 Kiss expo in London. Here, I got to see him playing on my drumkit. A real treat, it was just like xmas for me! Afterwards, he commented on how good the drums sounded! In 2006 I suffered a terrible accident whilst at work, which left me with spinal injuries; the medical term was fracture and spinal compression to L1 vertebrae). If your like me then your probably asking yourself,'What's that then?' Basically, that's BAD, Doctors told me that if there is a vertebrae you shouldn't break it's that one(L1)! I was left thinking, would I be able to walk again? Would I be able to play drums again?...After surgeons had re-set my back, I spent the next 5 months in a back brace and after that months of re-educational therapy (not to mention strong painkillers!). During this period, and unbeknownst to me, my good friend, Danny James had collected hundreds of personal get well wishes from people around the world, which he and the other guy's from 'Dressed to Kill' presented to me at a tearful reunion at the end of 2006; these included, Peter Criss, Loretta Caravello, Bruce Kulick, Lydia Criss, Tommy Thayer, Paul Finn and all at Kiss'in UK, (forum etc) and Kiss fans! Danny also presented me with a signed copy of Lydia Criss' book,(Thanks to Dan Bach for obtaining that!) The support I received from everyone was just overwelming. I must add that through it all, my wife Christelle, was a tower of strength and continues to be.... I thank my lucky stars that today, I'm now back drumming and look towards the future with high hopes.Recently, I was invited by French KISS Tribute Band DYNASTY to perform with them at a Benefit Concert being held to raise monies for a project between France & Brazil. The event was a huge success, with DYNASTY playing to a packed out venue! This was my first 'LIVE' performance since my accident in 2006 and therefore an emotional time!
