I'm a Jack Russel Terrier. A Puddin' Jack to be specific! I'm living with Baby and her peeps right now on a semi-permanent basis. Baby is sweet to me, and we get along just great. Besides that, her MJ is a purdy good secretary!! ;-) I was born on the Fourth of July in 1999. My Dad was a Puddin and Mom was a Parsons. I have a smooth coat and am really really obsessed with playing the fetch game. Toss sumpin and I'm all over it! I tend to just chew the sticks into tiny pieces tho...I hope to one day go back to my real family, but I won't do that as long as my step brother, Reggie, is there. Reggie started out a year younger than me, and I was the alpha dog. Then when he got bigger than me (he's a Parsons Jack), he dominated me and we got into lots of bloody battles. He's very aggressive and is mean to me.I'm a peace loving snuggle bunny kinda guy. I'm a lover, not a fighter. It's the trademark of the Puddin!Here is some information on the Puddin Jack.The Puddin' is simply a nickname for a small Jack Russell Terrier. The dog generally has black, brown, or brindle colored spots, short little legs, tails are usually docked, and has a sweet disposition, hence the nickname, "Puddin'." HISTORYThe Reverend John Russell was a 19th century parson with a passion for fox hunting, for which he developed a well-known strain of Fox Terriers. From this strain was developed the Smooth and Wire Fox Terriers, and the Jack Russell Terrier. In addition, however, a fourth breed was also developed from the parson’s hunting terriers. This was a smaller, longer-bodied, shorter-legged dog that was used almost exclusively to hunt vermin and bolt rabbits. For years, Jack Russell Terrier breeders referred to these dogs as “puddin’ dogs” or “puds,” and some-times just “shorties.”In England, Ireland, and Australia, the longer-legged square dog is known as the Parson Russell Terrier, while the lower, longer dog is called the Jack Russell Terrier. In the United States, however, the name Jack Russell Terrier has been universally applied to the long-legged dogs.UKC recognized the short-legged dogs as Russell Terriers on January 1, 2001.GAIT The Russell Terrier moves with a jaunty, confident attitude, conveying the character of the breed. When trotting, the gait is effortless, smooth, powerful, and well coordinated, showing good, but not exaggerated, reach in front and drive behind. The backline remains level with only a slight flexing to indicate suppleness. Viewed from any position, legs turn neither in nor out, nor do feet cross or interfere with each other. As speed increases, feet tend to converge toward centerline of balance. Poor movement should be penalized to the degree to which it reduces the Russell Terrier’s ability to perform the variety of tasks it was bred to do.
