All money from CD goes towards the 2010 Lottery League
On February 2nd  2008, 147 Cleveland-based musicians undertook a ten-week challenge: grouped into randomly-generated bands of four to five people, they were to write, record, rehearse and perform music. Part creative exercise, part sociological experiment, and part musical sandlot pick-up game, this event has been dubbed Lottery League 2008. These 147 people will perform the results of their work on the Lottery League's Big Night on April 12th, 2008 at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern.
Despite coming from different backgrounds, Lottery League participants have created a form of mass expression that emphasizes fun, inventiveness, and the idea of community.  It is in this spirit that the Lottery League invites everyone to attend this wild and uproarious festival of fun, taking place on three different stages.
Draft Night, the kick-off to the Lottery League 2008, took place at Tremont's Asterisk Gallery. Thirty-three bands were randomly generated according to an Incompatiblity List, which insured that bandmates, roommates, and those sharing intimate personal relationships would not end up in the same group. participants were assigned numbered ping-pong balls, which were picked out of a bingo hopper. And there was much rejoicing.
In addition to the Incompatibility List, an even distribution system of was used, so that each new Band would have a standard 'rock' lineup (i.e. drums, guitars) in addition to non-standard instruments (electronics, string instruments).   All in attendance then not only got to meet their new bandmates, but also received a set of 'trading cards' detailing the fun facts and information about every Lottery League participant.
After Draft Night, Lottery League bands began the ten-week odyssey that will come to a stunning conclusion on The Big Night. On the Big Night, thirty-three bands will each perform for ten minutes. The quick transitions from one stage to another, along with the sheer number of enthusiastic participants, promise to make The Big Night a high-energy experience for all involved. We expect nothing but a madcap carnival of mayhem and surprises!
