Music has always been a part of my life in one way or another since the 3rd grade when I was “Mrs. Noah†in the school musical of “Noah’s Ark.†I was given 2 solos and have been addicted to the center of the stage ever since.Finding a musical direction was difficult in my younger years. Singing in cover bands and hosting Karaoke shows got old very quickly. It was extremely difficult to find a local group of musicians that had the common goal of not playing in bars every weekend. 5 years ago, I decided to give local theater a try and was cast in a minor role in Thread Creek Player’s musical production of “The Sound of Music.†In 2005, I was cast for the lead role in the musical production of “Once Upon a Mattress.†The experience was a wonderful confidence booster for me, as both a vocalist and actor. That same year, I had the opportunity to do demo vocals for Chartbuster Karaoke in Seymour, Tennessee. That experience led me to record a CD to showcase my talent, which led to more vocal opportunities, including holding the title of “Grand Blanc’s Rising Star†for the last two years.Thanks to Myspace, Ned Doerr of The Red Ryder Band was able to take a listen and encouraged me to audition as a vocalist for his new group. After a year of communicating online, Ned came to see one of my performances and sent me several original songs to consider. I was automatically won over. With the phenomenal talent, commitment, and energy of all the musicians in The Red Ryder Band, as well as the awesome catalog of original material, I have finally found my musical niche. The Red Ryder Band will be the hottest band around!-Heather
