About Me

Greg Swartzentruber is a guy whose old friends would be surprised that he is a songwriter. Greg was told by his 7th grade music teacher in Tillamook OR that he was anything but musical... He was too naive to know any better and basically believed that. But he always gravitated to musical friends and absorbed a wide array of musical influences. He pursued a Ph.D. in Philosophy and went on to teach at several different universities. He had a brief flirting career as an actor on both stage and screen. After eventually turning his back on Academia, he decided, for some dumb reason, in his early 40's that he would try his hand at songwriting. Remarkably Greg has discovered that he is not so un-musical as he had been led to believe. He actually has written some palatable tunes and really believes he can write some great ones with time and effort. While once thinking it was his destiny to write the "Great American Novel" he now finds a challenge in the task of condensing a novel's worth of drama, tragedy, love, emotion, wit or intelligence into a three minute, audible package. He is still primarily a lyricist but is working hard on musical aptitudes and has begun to compose a few melodies even. But for now he is constantly looking for musical collaborators to turn his lyrical creations into songs.
