with a fondness for Kate Bush, Battlestar Galactica, and Dennis Leary, R Cat Records, a Canadian record label, set up shop in Edmonton, Alberta, with nothing more than two suitcases, a collection of rare Kate Bush promos, and an unsigned copy of Richard Branson's 'Losing My Virginity'.this record label, R Cat Records, soon became a “purveyor of excellence in independent music”, after releasing it’s first album “Obsecurity” by Adam Lastiwka in January 2006. the artist, whose sole purpose in life was to compose and produce magnificent film scores, was signed to the new label over a few coffees whereupon it was written: ‘please deliver some equally magnificent albums and we’ll see what we can do.’by August 2008, R Cat Records had released 14 albums and signed a major licensing deal with Warner Bros Pictures who chose a track from Adam’s first album for the new Ridley Scott ‘Body of Lies’ motion picture trailer featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. we were naturally shocked and stunned because it’s such a big thing getting a massive deal on a first release that was written and composed by a 17 year old artist who remains ahead of his time.all we have to do now, is find more artists, and sign more big things!
