Influences: The mysticism of sound and music, traversing through the entire universe, vibrations hit us but feel no pain. The struggle for life and liberty, truth and justice, freedom and equality, universal themes that are expressed by the vast history of singers and players of instruments. We are blessed to be a part of this stream of consciousness, to tap into this energy, putting this music on blast for the whole world to hear it, feel it, move with it, get down to it, rise on up with it, the music is the movement, the search for self-awareness, at-one-ment, we on it.From the fertile crescent to the arid deserts, tropical rains and redwood forests, we move through four directions, four winds, four directions, four limbs...Africa red hott, just check west coast mali n' nigeria, from fela to bouabacar traore, traditions of music and movement, the fight for the mind, land, and resources...still got oil companies exploitation and crisis on the rise, still the most precious of resources abounds...music is the voice of the people......up through northern sands of morocco and into andalucia the mood intensifies...camp fires and dancers, flamencos, gitanos, caravans, and songs of travel, diaspora, jews n' gypsies alike, muslim n' christian, weave intricate patterns and designs, community through song n' dance, songs of protest, songs of despair, songs of pain and sorrow, and the chanting desire to live and love......growing up in "these united states", though far from united, still such a rich history of music and movement of protest...blues music, blues people, struggle intensifies in these times of crisis, chaos, and change...our collective memory recalls eagles soaring above freedom's skies, sharp mountains pierce the clouds..we are taught this was called "pre-columbian", though Anahuak n' Teohuak are far more ancient names for this land of our current inhabitance...buffalo soldiers, freedom fighters, graffiti writers, move us to the present birth of hip hop...turntables, technology, and the spoken word...modern griots of society spinning stories of ghettos and barrios, sold in shopping malls and at curbsides, pirated for the world to hear, to see, the youth to breathe, memorize and imitate, initiates we are...just the beginning...
