I was born in Memphis, TN. Had my first school field trip in Kindergarten, when my teacher signed us all out of school and drove us to Graceland the day Elvis died. Grew up in Birmingham, AL trying to skateboard and playing classic rock in my parents basement. I did tours of restaurant duty on Beale Street in Memphis in the summers and moved up to Memphis when I graduated High School. Went to Memphis State for a while but ended up back in B'ham and went to UAB and got a degree in Studio Art concentrating in Found Object and Wire sculpture. In college, I worked my way through a dozen grunge/improv/experimental punk rock bands playing mainly drums and some guitar. Including but not limited to: Volume, Mauldin Youth, Fuzzy Sons, Shallow, Little Red Rocket, The Orchids, Grady Vision, Happy Camper, Bleeding Hearts Choir, The Yellowhammers, Mustache Sisters, T-CLEX. I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Green Day, Boris Raskin, Michael Ray and Jothan Collins of the Sun Ra Arkestra, Royal Trux, Cell, Life Sex and Death, Modern English, Five Eight and a whole lot of others. Thanks Birmingham. The Nick Rocks! I got a "real job" ten years ago in the Memphis restaurant industry. Got married in 1999 and now have two awesome kids and a wonderful wife. I kicked around in several Memphis bands playing drums and guitar(Sneaky Little Bastards and Blood Red Patriots) and ended up playing electric bass and help write tunes in my current band Punching Nicholas. I have put found object sculpture on the temporary back burner to delve in the field of building found object robots, lunch bag decoration, drawing dinosaurs, aliens, robots, flowers and unicorns on demand, and instantaneous funny noises.
