About Me

James Rand secured his first residency at EVOL in March 2007, awarding the opportunity to play in between bands such as Metronomy, Late Of The Pier and Mystery Jets, whilst also warming up for Vitallic, Duke Dumont and Joakim.
Over the course of the next year, James has started his own night entitled 'Bibliothèque', soundtracking the Saturday night of the most individual venue in Liverpool, Korova with a mixture of Italo Disco, Techno, Noisy Electro, Vintage Electroclash, Alternative 80s Pop and Tinted Acid House. This night consistently serves an alternative to the wave of no-brainer indie nights with a more 'forward thinking' approach to music. "Basically we want people to go out and hear music that's exciting. A large proportion of the 'indie crowd' will go out to hear music they already have on their shelf. Our aim is to bring some intelligence back to the indie disco."
In June 2008, James made his debut at the legendary 'Chibuku Shake Shake' warming up for (party techno pioneer) 'Boys Noize', as well as winning Cream's DJ competition securing a slot at 'Creamfields'. Since then he has been asked back a handful of times to set the stage for Cassette Jam, The Whip and Justice.
Over the autumn, James began working more closely with EVOL played with none over than 2 Many DJs and The Prodigy.
2009 will see James spending a lot of time in a darkened room eating jam sandwiches whilst attempting to construct functional re-edits to impress people he hasn't met yet. He also plans to book some trendy kids from down south to put some records on in Liverpool.
Throughout the last few weeks, James has been getting the hang of writing about himself in the third person. He believes he is slowly getting better at it.
