It all started years and years ago, when we all discovered the delights of celtic music in our separate ways. Andy started out playing in Germany before he even moved here, the rest of us here in Canada. We met each other in sessions, (remember that famous one at Sherlock Holme's on Thursday nights?) heard each others bands, (Sheela na Gigh, Uisce Scona, Scona Brae, Jolly Beggars, Murphy's Law, Fair Billy, and others I can't remember). Tami got a call one day to put a band in a wedding and decided right then to put together her dream team band. So we got together, changed our name about 18 times and finally settled on Darkwood for about 3 years. We played quite a bit with that name, had lots of fun and even started recording our Cd and realized finally that we shared the name with someone else with a prior claim. Welcome to Celtara! After months of baby books, debates and web searches we've rechristened ourselves Celtara and it's ours all ours! We'll see you at partys, pubs, festivals, tea houses, house concerts, boats and theatres. You'll hear us here and on fine radio. You can buy our Cd at Blackbyrd Myoosic, at the Gramaphone or through us.
