Thanks so much for visiting.Lee McBee (born March 23, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American blues musician, singer and harmonica player.Though he is primarily a Regional Blues act in the Midwest, Lee McBee gained National attention in the late 1980s and early 1990s for his work with Mike Morgan and the Crawl and for his band "Lee McBee & The Passions." These bands toured the United States, Canada and Europe and recorded on major blues labels. McBee grew up around Kansas City, MO and collected blues and soul records throughout the 1960s. In 1969, he moved to Lawrence, Kansas, which he calls, "home," until this day. During his early years in Lawrence he preformed with serveral local artist, such as Bill Lynch during the years of 1980 through 1983. Also, during that time, from 1978 through 1982 to be exact, Lee moved into the national music scene and recorded or performed with BB King, Kim Wilson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Anson Funderburgh and Pinetop Perkins to name a few. By the mid 1980s, he made Dallas his second home and met guitarist Mike Morgan in 1987. They formed the Crawl and they would be together for the next twelve years. In 1994, McBee began a side project with The Passions and recorded the now legendary "44" on the Kansas City based RED HOT RECORDS label. The recordings prominently featured Blues legends Anson Funderburgh, Kid Ramos, Willie J. Campbell & Stephen Hodges (of which the latter 3 went on to join The 90's version of The Fabulous Thunderbirds and also played with The now legendary James Harman Band in the 1980s.) The Passions would be relocated to Kansas City as its base and soon evolved into Lee McBee and the Confessors. Throughout the 2000s, McBee and his band tour Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri and have released two albums - the previously mentioned "44" and the aptly named "Soul Deep" which was a collaboration with Jerry Hall & The Pacific Blues Record Label. Future plans involve recording Lee McBee & The Confessors of which the 2007 Lineup include: Karl Angerer (guitar), Ralph Ybarra (guitar), Tim Johnson (Drums), Patrick David Recob (Bass), Allen Fishell (Drums.) In April of 2006 and throughout 2006 Lee reuinted with Mike Morgan for several reunion shows and has recorded several songs with Mike Morgan for an upcoming Crawl CD release on SEVERN RECORDS for 2007.A truely exceptional vocalist. Lee McBee also happens to be a dynamite harmonicaplayer. One of my all time favorite blues singers... deqly soulful and always 'for real' His phrasing is impeccable.. . a master of dynamics and subtle nuance... really puts across the story in his songs. With his song writing talent and bis engaging on stage enthusiasm, it is apparent why he is such an asset to the blues in general...Anson Funderburgh says it best when he describes Lee musically as 'natural' Hammond Scott, Black Top Records' 'Lee McBee, a truly great musican' B.B.King

Lee Mcbee & Pinetop Perkins fishing after Famous Daves Chicago

One of my fond memories took place the night after I preformed with Pinetop Perkins at Famous Dave's in Chicago. Pinetop and I were not on the stage, but at the lake.  Though we were there to fish, I ...
