Biography
Emily Ellis was born November 28th, 1982 which makes her 25 years old. Emily grew up in Northern Las Vegas, Nevada with her mother, Pat Ellis, her father, her two older brothers and her three sisters: Mehrey, Sarah and Betsy. Emily and Mehrey are the two middle children; their mother pushed them towards music and drama. Emily started choir in Junior High and kept doing it through out High School where she learned to play the violin, trumpet and piano. Emily also took dance and drama classes.
Emily started out in the music business in the band The Kickwurms where she was known as Lil’ D. Emily did more of a Fergie type thing, singing back-up and more girly parts. Emily was in Kickwurms when she was eighteen, then at the age of nineteen Emily was asked to do a parody of Eminem’s "The Real Slim Shady," for a local Vegas Radio show. Emily didn’t know Eminem’s song that well but when for it anyways, the song was written as a rebuttal from Christina Aguilera coyly named "My Reply". Emily’s voice sounded so much like Christina’s that Christina had to deny in interviews that she did that song. “My Reply†brought much notice to Emily and shortly after recording the song Emily left Kickwurms. Emily wanted to do more of a fronting thing, where the girl had the balls in the band. She wasn’t into the girly back-ups; Emily wanted to be like her influences: Pat Benatar and Janis Joplin; female rockers not afraid to do what guys do. At around this time Emily was friends with Bleed the Dream fill in drummer, Aaron Cohan. She called him up and asked if he wanted to start a band, he was all in and eventually they recruited Snake, Lawrence and Rocko. This is how Valentine was started but soon Emily started Law School and Valentine sort of broke up.
Studying to be an Entertainment Attorney, during Law School Emily wanted to do more. Emily started modeling for some of her photographer friends, eventually doing photoshoots for Bleeding Star Clothing; which were shot by MichellexStar. Emily also did some shoots with Killers Never Die, DonotResist.com and many others. Even modeling bored her, Emily missed playing in a band; music is her life. So Emily decided to join a band called Her Alibye after they lost their singer, Her Alibye went on to play East Coast dates on the Vans Warped Tour in 2007. After Warped Tour, Her Alibye changed their name to Valentine, keeping the line-up of Emily, Estill Holliday and Adam Liberti. Emily still does some modeling for fun, she’s still in Law School and this summer she’s hoping to do Warped Tour again; East Coast dates.
Emily Ellis loves music; it’s in her family as her Mother is a band promoter and her sister is a singer also. Emily is always listening to music; it’s constantly playing on her IPhone. Her favorite bands include Ani Difranco, Brand New, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, The Used, Mickey Avalon, My Chemical Romance, As I Lay Dying, Sigur Roslove, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Muse, Funeral For A Friend, Acceptance, Our Lady Peace, Underoath, her sister Mehrey's music. Phantom Communiqué, MEST/Kisses for Kings and Lights Resolve are Valentine’s latest bands to play a show with. Emily is always smiling and having a good time, she’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet or even talk to. If you ever see Valentine live, make sure to go see Emily she’ll be glad to talk to any fan. Emily Ellis, the fun loving girl who still has enough balls to do what guys normal do.
