About Me

(R-L) Uncle Phil, Harry Sounds & Silvio - A Lost Paradise on Mabo Day
Harry Sounds is a warrior of the Sydney underground dance music scene. He is a purveyor of all fine afro and afro influenced dance music. Drawn to the dance by childhood excursions to Kingston and the discovery of reggae and dub music, Harry truly found his musical footing as a teenager dancing to the back end of a Chicago House renaissance. Inspired by the sweat box clubs of the late 90s, he has since strived to continue their tradition of total acceptance and total dance mania.
Harry has been engaged in production, DJing and promotion in Sydney over the past decade. His projects present include: Paradise Lost - present day enthusiasts of traditional disco and dance in Sydney; Black Horse - a deep techno & house duo with Sydney DJ Prize; The Boogie Dance Cafe - a wind down wind up party playing obscure boogie, funk, disco and house at the Broadway cafe on Thu, Fri and Sat nights.
Projects past and on hiatus include: Dubbo - original and versioned live disco pieced together in the tape edit tradition of the 70s and 80s; The Soul-Tech Sound System - a party crew infusing contemporary techno with afro soul; Blue Track - a night featuring innovative jazz in Sydney; and Tao City - a drum machine beat driven jazz band inspired by early deep house.
