About Me

Abray Records started in the Summer of 1998 after hearing a very unique band on the radio. The band, Treading Evans, was a local act in Greenville, NC where I was going to college. Me, being a big Dave Matthews fan, heard this real rock song with a violin which was not the norm even in a time where bands were already starting to emulated the DMB sound I contacted the radio station to get some info on this band and just so happens, the DJ was a friend of the lead singer. We met, discussed our ideas on the band and the idea to start a label was done. We released our first album, A pale Green Winter, around Feb. 1999. Treading Evans toured for the next 18 months in support of the disc and for a regional release, we all did pretty well. After TE disbanded, we signed a Raleigh, NC band, The Nickel Slots. The Nickel Slots were coming of their debut release with Deep South (Butch Walker, Marcy Playground) and were looking to record/release a new album. We finished that album and got the guys doing shows and quickly picked up national distribution with Redeye. We then signed Washington, DC based Jonasay who went all to be our best seller and after the intial success with them, we dealt them to Fresh Tracks Music who could provide them with a larger working budget. After the Jonasay deal was done, 2 more Raleigh bands, The Bleeding Hearts + Rob Watson fell into our lap and we are currently working both records on a small scale. These are the final 2 releases that Abray Records will market. We will now concerntrate on our larger enterprise, AlternativeAddiction.com (music promotion) and it's divisions, AlternativeAddiction presents...(concert promotion) and SoundFly.com (indie music portal-coming soon). Our offices will be moving from New York, NY to Orlando, FL in Nov 2006. The Detroit office has moved to Auburn Hills, MI.
