AMORETTO: means Little Loved Ones/ which are Love Cupids that live in your heart and can bring to you good fortune while you dream at night! Rae Serrano was directly responsible for the musical creation of this project and now I am in the middle of bringing on the "total resurrection" of "ME" an original member of this group! I helped create the style, the look and written poetic words of the song at its roots in its very beginnings! RADIO PLAY: PKO records did an excellent job at getting this project on the radio and into mom and pop record stores. They spent large sums of money to keep this song alive on the radio and right up until today!THE STYLE: I just had to create the look of the Black Spanish Bolero Hat with all Black Leather custom made Jackets. This was to reflect the Spanish culture from Spain to Puerto Rico and all Latin Nations that listen to our Clave Beats in song! We enveloped that look amongst our many latina female fans. Even Madonna came out with that Black Hat on one of her albums and in many magazine covers until today! THE CONCEPT: We came up with the idea of Latin Hip Hop to mean simply that it was hip hop mixed with Spanish overtones and lyrics. I helped pave the way for an entire decade of music that followed as the original pioneers of Latin Hip Hop/ Freestyle became a reality- which was me(Jessica Alba Lopez) and Producer Rae Serrano who provided the electronics for Rap Icon Afrika Baambaata! THE BOOK: As written in the book "MUSICA" - the crossover success of AMORETTO's Clave Rocks in 1986-88 was in part due to promotions done by David Maldonado Management who ran a dynamic artist management office right on Broadway. Today he is directly responsible for the hit off broaday play - "CELIA"! At that time, one of his office boys who helped AMORETTO was Mark Anthony A/K/A Mark Anthony Muniz who sang backup in the Latin Hip Hop clubs and dreamed of becoming a star. I remember David Maldonado telling me that Mark would be a star someday! Other artists that were signed to David Maldonado were - Safire, Ruben Blades, Little Louie Vega and Louis Perico Oritz. At that time I was signed to David Maldonado Management and as a result I later became Lisa Lisa's backup singer for "Take Me Home" and "Can You Feel the Beat" on tour. PKO RECORDS: AMORETTOs Clave Rock became the first Latin Hip Hop/Freestyle group to be recognized as the TLC / Destinys Child of the 80's! We found ourselves in a perculiar situation because this song took off around the world and became a Top 10 Billboard dance tune of all time rather quickly without the original singers of the group. This happened because Rae Serrano did not have enough time to finalize contract negotiations with Jeannette and Annette and the song took off without them. This all happened at the time when Madonna was performing in the same clubs as AMORETTO such as the Palladium, Roxy's, the Funhouse and I had the honor of meeting her!!Today, I am still singing and I hope to finish the original music of AMORETTO! Rae Serrano and myself had music that was never heard in public and hopefully in the near future I can finish those songs and my new songs for the public to hear!I will keep you posted! SO FEEL FREE TO JOIN OUR SITE AND BECOME ONE OF OUR FRIENDS! WE WILL LOVE TO HAVE YOU IF YOU LOVE the music!PS: CHECK OUT OUR PHOTOS! MEET THE "REAL" RECORDING ARTISTS/ VOCALISTS OF AMORETTO!!
