About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

Brendan McCormack, a.k.a. DJ Rumor, always had a passion for music. Being the youngest of five children, he was exposed to many genres, including Rock, Disco, Jazz, Hip Hop & House. In 1999, the White Plains, NY native purchased 2 turntables and compiled an impressive vinyl collection. Being self-taught, he spent hours perfecting his craft. Brendan’s first gigs were b-boy battles (break dance competitions) throughout the East Coast. In 2003 he moved to Manhattan and never looked back. In addition to graduating Hunter College with a B.A. in Media Studies, Brendan holds residencies at Cain, Socialista, Double Seven, Bryant Park Hotel, Ultra, Kush, & Dirty Disco, with recurring guest spots at Room Service, Plumm, Stereo, Home, Crobar, Maritime Hotel & more.

His skills have caught the attention of various companies, DJ'ing corporate events and fashion shows for clients such as Armani Exchange, Nanette Lepore, VH1, Christie’s Auction House, Cipriani’s, Project NY & Promax BDA. Rumor has spun throughout the U.S. in cities like San Francisco & New Orleans and internationally as a guest DJ for The Scratch Academy. In 2007, Brendan produced and mixed a Latin Funk CD for Fania Records called Fania Live 01: From The Meat Market With DJ Rumor. It was released at major retailers everywhere, including Virgin, Amazon & i-Tunes, and recieved rave reviews: “(Live 01) is laid out beautifully back to back...gives us a new appreciation for the music as it leaps nicely from one cut to the next.”- DustyGroove.com "His mix is both an excellent primer on the bugalú and Latin soul world, and he shows deft skills in pairing certain songs"- The Nation “DJ Rumor's got the stones to trim Ray Barretto's ‘New York Soul’ down to around 50 seconds because he wants to keep his mix moving”- GBH.tv

It is Brendan's eclectic style that makes the biggest impression on listeners, taking them on a musical journey through various decades. Notorious for live blends, expect to hear everything from the latest hits to the songs that bring you back.
