Dodie Droddy Fountain and Karen Harvill are a musical duo collectively known as the "Mississippi Mammas". The two women from Waveland, Mississippi are musicians who have devoted their song writing and singing skills to educating the public about the environment. The begin singing together in 1989, the Mammas (as they are affectionately known by their fans) have tackled in song environmental juggernauts ranging from global issues as the rain forest destruction and ozone depletion to local issues. Their unique vocal blend, combined with their gripping original compositions cut through the technobabble and political double talk often associated with environmental issues. The Mammas message comes through loud and clear.
The duo was active from 1989 through 1991 performing at Southern University, Baton Rouge LA providing musical introduction to Jesse Jacksons speech to the University on environmental awareness. Armstrong Park New Orleans as featured musicians for the Gulf Coast Tenants Association's Toxic March. Round river Rendezvous, Ennis MT and represented the south bio region in the national enviromental music fest. University of New Orleans, New Orleans set the stage with environmental music for both Murray Bookchin and Dolores LaChapelle.

Delta Greens conference on Racism and the Environment, New Orleans a musical introduction for the conference. Mississippi Humanities Council and Governors Office, Governors Conference on the Future, Jackson MS. Partners for Global justice, Recycling Center Openings. Educational environmental productions for both public and private High schools and Buccaneer State Park.

WLOX, TV Biloxi MS did a three minute special about the Mammas for Thanksgiving day 1989.
Bob Casper syndicated folk radio personality program out of Mil Wis. taped a live performance of the Mammas at the RRR in Montana to use for his live in concert portion of his educational programming.
The two women split in 1991 to pursue family concerns.
