Target Audience: Youth 13-16 16-25
Background:
The NAFL was started by Marcus A. Mc Dougle, President of PlayersFirst, a community relations company that represents more than 35 professional athletes, entertainers, and various city officials. Mr. Mc Dougle has over 10 years of experience working with troubled young adults through:
• Mentoring through Police Athletic League Events (3 years)
• Organizing the City of Pompano Beach & PlayersFirst: NAFL 7 on 7 Flag Football Challenge (3 years)
• Organizing the City of Hollywood & Big Brother & Big Sister John Madden Challenge
• Organizing the Jerome Mc Dougle Football Weekend (2 years)
(2007 was the first and only football camp held in the historical Orange Bowl stadium with over 600+ participants)
• Organizing various college and university tours) including: University of Miami, Florida International University, and Florida Memorial University
• Working with troubled young adults within the Department of Children & Families (4 years)
• Working in the Department of Corrections (4 years)
The above experiences were consistent in highlighting how troubled young adults, when exposed to positive activities and mentoring, had a higher tendency to redirect their negative behavior towards productive goals.
Purpose:
Through a hands-on approach young adults will be exposed to positive athletic and cultural events, including but not limited to:
• Playing in 7 on 7 flag football leagues
• Attending college & professional sporting events
• Visiting college, university, and professional sports’ facilities style="visibility:visible;"
