I am Laura Rose and Evilyn Sin Claire. I perform belly dance, burlesque and get involved in all kinds of fun and sassy performance art about town. I grew up belly dancing under the tutorage of my mother Delilah, and filled out my training with workshops from top belly dance stars and musicians such as Suhalia Salmipour, Rachel Brice, Jill Parker, Laurel Gray, Lorraine Lafata, Carolena Nericcio, Sabura, Habib, Jeremiah Soto, Erik Brown...the list goes on. I've toured the US, Korea and Tokyo with live Middle eastern Bands such as Sirocco and House of Tarab, as well as expanded my view of belly dance with fusion and alternative music and costume sources. I view dance and the body as a performance art.
In 2003 I wanted to further explore sexuality and humor with dance, but did not want to undo the work my foremothers in belly dance had done to be viewed as a "respectable dance form". So I studied belly dance's bad little sister burlesque, and started performing with Burning Hearts Burlesque. Over the years I have developed the character EVILYN SIN CLAIRE and have bumped and grind-ed all about the Northwest. Evilyn Sin Claire can currently be seen every Thursday at the Noc Noc with her troup, Sinner Saint Burlesque.
