Strength Through Joy was formed in 1993 in Australia by Richard Leviathan and Timothy Jenn. They emerged as one of the early emanations of the so-called Neofolk scene in Europe. Signed by Death in June's Douglas Pearce, they recorded two full length albums, 'The Force of Truth and Lies' and 'Salute to Light'. The duo toured extensively with Death in June and Boyd Rice in 1996 and 1997. STJ was disbanded in 1998. Richard Leviathan now records and performs with Ostara.
