Terry Moore is a drummer originally from Philadelphia, who lives in New York City.
At a young age, Terry Moore expressed an interest in music, and the drums in particular. As one can imagine, his parents were thrilled when at age six, he decided instead to take up the piano. However, classical piano training never fully satisfied the young musician, and after considerable persuasion, drum lessons began shortly after his thirteenth birthday.
During high school, Moore studied drumset, marimba and tympani under former Max Roach associate, Craig McIver. Moore was also trained in music theory and composition at this time by Roberto Pace. Another important mentor for Moore during this time was pianist Orrin Evans, with whom he worked as part of the Settlement Music School Jazz Ensemble. The combination of all of this vigorous musical training encouraged Moore to pursue studies in musical performance at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City.
Moore's time studying at New School offered many opportunities, the most important being a connection with Master Drummer, Michael Carvin. Moore had the privilege of studying under Michael Carvin for three years, during which Moore matured rapidly as a musician. Studies under Michael Carvin ended formally in the spring of 2008, as did his degree at New School, where Moore graduated Cum Laude.
Currently, Moore is building his career, most notably with two bands in New York City: The Bones Royal and Lily Claire + The Moving Men. Previously, he has performed and recorded with a diverse group of musicians, playing many different styles of music. He is also available for recording and private event performances. Please contact
