About Me

Dead black hearts used to be just Reid & Brian. The two met years ago and had been playing with different musicians throughout college, playing live shows and cavorting around. Recorded almost entirely in their home studio in Austin, TX, 'Five Gallant Steeds', blends organic instruments, recording techniques, and performances with electronic, programmed rhythm and production, taking inspiration from artists like The Secret Machines, The Flaming Lips and Radiohead. The pair's long-time friend & musician extraordinaire, James Ryan, also helped with 'Five Gallant Steeds', lending his musical powers to some of the drum and percussion.

After 'Five Gallant Steeds' was finished, dead black hearts needed to be filled out with more musicians. Aaron and Austin joined, filling out the band and each adding to the chemistry and energy.

The band has just finished recording their second album, The Southern Front.

All music and lyrics by dead black hearts. All hail dead black hearts.
