About Me

The DOF started rhyming and making music when they were teenagers growing up in the rough Deep Valley neighborhood of Oceanside, California, a suburb of San Diego. The producers/song writers/performers collaborated together and produced this album which fuses a mix of "old school funk" and "R&B". The duo have been working together since 1996. They credit the likes of Prince, The Time, Switch, and The Bar-Kays to name a few, as their influences in their production. "We really don't sample too much...very rarely", says Hitman. "Both GDX and myself have been involved in music since a very young age so we figured...why not make our own music instead of paying royalties to someone else". Their music reflects a more party-listic side of the ghetto often forgotten about in today's mainstream rap. The DOF (Dos of Funk) as they have become to be know is sure to getcho' head boppin'! Although this is their first completed project, The Hitman states that it really wouldn't have been possible without GDX. Says Hitman of his best-friend, "GDX...no matter what he does he puts it down! The DOF single handedly produced every single song you hear. "He wrote the music and I wrote the rhymes and the hooks", says The Hitman. "We won't use anyone else's music unless it's going to be a featured spot on that artists track. Our music is all about us...it defines who we are. We've created our own distinct sound and style, it doesn't make sense to blend an array of different producers".
