With stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain

About Me

A friend once called me "methodically happy". I think I like that epithet! My blog is far more philosophical and ethereal than I prefer to be in person. I actually wrote a blog about that...viscious cycle, I guess. Ah well -What's your story? Let's do lunch.

My Interests

Music, singing, biking, reading, and those people who truly amaze me

I'd like to meet:

Surprise me

Music:

Truly, I haven't yet found a genre I don't like something from. For that reason, my tastes vary widely. Some sample stuff that I like includes Bing Crosby, The Police, Talkingheads, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Jimmy Eat World, Ben Folds, Marvin Gaye, The Strokes, Radiohead, and Bad Religion. A comprehensive list would be interminable.

Movies:

Definitely a substantial movie fan. Definitely not presently inspired to narrow down a list of favorites. A pretty good variety, in general.

Television:

I don't watch much TV - just not much worth seeing, in my opinion. There are good exceptions to this rule. E.g. Alias, Arrested Development, and Family Guy, among a few others.

Books:

Faulkner is some spiffy stuff. Check it out, and bring a reading guide.

Heroes:

Further ruminations

Continuing in my usual bloggerific ruminations: I feel really solid about the vast majority of the world.  Summer has given me an opportunity to begin to reset my values, beliefs, and mentalities...

Withdrawing

A little overwhelmed at the moment. Nothing a bit of music can't solve.

Interlude

I'd love to create something beautiful. I'd love to write, paint, film, or something like that. So I will write. I guess that's why I do. Or maybe it's just a side effect. Ah, how nice. A ...

The following is bullshit

Feeling the weight of purpose

How very depressing - it seems for the most part that I only post on this blog when I'm somehow troubled. Or at least that's how it feels. Life has my goat, and will not return it: I'm just kin...

Great Questions

College essays can be overwhelming and horrible, but can also get the old mental juices flowing nicely at times. The following was a brainstorm for a Northwestern question... A question to an arti...
