Jennifer Perry has been performing since she could walk. At the age of eight, Jennifer debuted in a theatrical group called "The Little Theatre Jesters" where she sang, danced, and acted away all of her seemingly endless energy. After her parents' divorce when she was nine, Jennifer declared that she would live every other year with Dad, in order to remain close to both of her parents. After about seven years of moving back and forth between Washington and Illinois, both of her parents relocated to Seattle. Jennifer, however, already had a new plan in place.....she would live in downtown Chicago, work two jobs and attend a performing arts "fame" high school, The Chicago Academy for the Arts.
By now Jennifer had already had more "life experience" than the average 16-year old (making new friends in new places every other year for seven years) and began documenting her experiences through poetry. She was always interested in writing and had won creative writing and poetry competitions growing up, but now she felt like she actually had something to say. Upon graduating from high school, Jennifer was more than ready to take on N.Y.C!
Against everyone's advice she decided to attend a performing arts college, The State University of New York at Purchase. After three years at Purchase studying everything from dance to creative writing and music theory, Jennifer auditioned for a well-known concert dance company, "Donald Byrd." As the only girl hired out of over 500 auditioning, she was ecstatic. Over the next three years she toured the country performing with music legends like Max Roach and Vernon Reed. Jennifer always knew that music would be a part of her life, so when her good friend Mia Michels asked if she would be interested in moving to Las Vegas to work with Celine Dion, she eagerly accepted. Though living in Vegas wasn't as exciting as living in Manhattan, with five months off a year, she had plenty of time to intensely pursue her other artistic desires.
Armed only with her MAC computer and GarageBand, Jennifer began playing around with putting her words to music. Over the next couple years she realized that she could combine her writing and performing skills and started creating quite a buzz. After hearing what Jennifer had been working on, Celine's keyboard player Yves Frulla offered to produce a four-song demo for her. After writing together for six months, many other people began to take notice and sign on to the project. Out of their pure excitement for the music, over 20 other creative minds joined Jennifer in making her video, playing on the tracks, mixing, and designing her album cover - basically getting project " PERRY" underway.
With her 5'10" striking stature, her elogant yet quirky sense of movement, and a unique voice full of attitude, you can't help but be intrigued by this "in your face" new artist!
