The Summerlad

About Me

Here is Mitch Barany's Video for the single "City of Noise": Since 1999 the three-piece Calgary band has been honing their ability to merge pounding rhythms and driving guitars with full-on psychedelic freak-outs and atmospheric exploration. In December 2007 they released City of Noise, an album-length single track that tells the story of a day in the life of a city, complete with dance party, drones and a waltz. Currently they are putting the polish on their fourth album, Blue-Skinned Waltz. The band's genre-defying sound finds its focus around the voice of Garrett Sordi-McClure, formerly of Geffen artists The Primrods. The Summerlad have shared the stage with Xiu Xiu, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Constantines, Enon, and The Besnard Lakes throughout the course of extensive tours of North America. They have played festivals with the likes of The Flaming Lips, Yo La Tengo and Mogwai. Sept. 2008 saw them take their first trip to the UK, where they played in London and Glasgow and had an impromptu recording session at Chem19 Studios."A sonic kaleidoscope of arcing, yearning guitar sounds, vocal harmonies and stop/start dynamics of broad, almost cinematic scope. Yes, these songs can be challenging at times, but they’re also well worth the listen." - Uptown magazine"The Summerlad's City of Noise is an architectural marvel" - Vue magazineGo here for A history of The SummerladYou can see a list of the tours we've done so far by going here! You can purchase some great music by going to the Saved by Radio Online StoreAND you can read all kinds of press pull-quotes by going here!
