About Me
My name is Alexa Raquel and yes it is my real name..I have been performing professionally since the age of nine when I performed at the Wachovia Sports Complex in Philadelphia and was hooked ever since.. I was Raised by my Dad and Grand Parents..My Dad was a clean living man and a devoted father who taught me to always be the best you cam be. His selfless and compassionate ways will always be with me..He truly was and is the Wind beneath his little girls wings..I love you Daddy..My Grandparents helped raise me and gave me all the stuffed animals you could ever fit in a house. I still have every one of them..I had a life filled with so much love including a dog, two cats, a rabbit and more hugs and kisses than the stars in the sky..I love my Grandparents more than words could say...They are a big part of the reason I do what I do..I have two original CDs which are with my band Wild Child..I studied voice with the World Famous Mr. Russel Faith and remained with him until his death a few years ago..I studied dance/improv and now instruct others in jazz and hip hop and always incorporate dance into what I do on stage.. We are involved in the AOH, the FOP, and many charities in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. We play rock and party music, celtic and dance songs so everyone is sure to have a good time. I have the best band out there, especially my guitarist known simply as GUN..Real name unknown although I think its Greg lol..This band is made up of musicians who have their eye on the now..They are fashion aware, animated and all have lead vocal ability which is what makes the difference. There is nothing worse than people trying to sing who have no idea what-so-ever what end of the mic ya sing in...Hello.....Plus..there are no guitar hero"s or John Bonham's in this band because its a group effort and that "look at me" ego trip was longggg ago.. Its just not about being some house rockin band anymore with everyone competing desperately for their minuite of fame..It has nothing to do with how fast you move you fingers or sticks or how many notes you play..Its all about the statement you make going into the club..If you look like a joke going in, it doesnt matter how good you think you are in your mind..And the same applies if you look like a band that people will pay money to see. Then you got something.
Not that Wildchild cant bang with anyone cause they can and do pretty much anywhere we go. We all still belong to the God of Thunder school of Rock but we just want to try to take things to a higher level by showcasing the whole package.. We highlight things like overall presentation and animation, 3 and 4 part harmonies, and material thats credable rather than songs designed to make us "fit in " We're pretty big on looking like we belong up there and not someones uncle Charlie or Grandfather..Its a shame putting together a rock band doesn't come with instructions because we probably made mistakes that really could have been avoided.Sounding good in todays market is a given and all the top bands sound good..Its the lighting that we probably could have focused more on..A person will remember what they saw for years and years but might forget what you sounded like by the next day...Alot of new bands think a bunch of flashing light or strobes is good enough but that can actually be a distraction to an audience..We finally have a full time light guy who knows when to go blue, red, light the whole stage up or black it all out..Its that one element that enables us to play a rock room like Cabanas or The Whisky one day and The Buck Hotel the next. Also, its been said that I tend to focus more on the Sapphire band than Wildchild and thats probably true to a certain extent but that upscale market just seems much more stable and really is more cost effective in the long run..It seems that the rock scene is continuing to spiral down. Its sad to see these people still spending their lives on something that the whole world knows ended long ago..I'm mean, how many ways can you whack-up $600.00?? No its not the end of Wildchild, in-fact were having our official Cd release party in September, We just wanted people to know why they havent seen Wildchild around all summer....True its way harder to have a Sapphire type band but those rooms have alot of bling..lol By October, we will have played over a hundred gigs, most of them at the shore, so it must be working..lol..Plus we bring out a killer light show, multi stage risers and a whooping 28,000 watt (you heard me correctly) Pa system to shake things up..lol..On thing about both Wildchild and Sapphire is that we support and have good relationships with probably every band out there.
Its just never a good thing to go around talking bad of someone and it always comes right back on that person..
Stay tuned for the new My-space on the upscale band known as Sapphire (http://www.myspace.com/sapphire_band) which plays around town too....I have a strong faith in God and stay away from negative or hostile songs, especially when they dont rock anyway..Also, please check back often for updated gig info..We found that listing all our dates on our myspace was really mixing things up so we won't be putting any new gigs on the schedule until a week or so before the show...Lexi
We have just finished mastering our second Cd..On my first Cd entitled Heart Strings, I focused on meterial outside of the rock catagory and more pop sounding...This Cd will be on the site this week..The second Cd, entitled Rough and Ready is way more in the rock vein and really hits hard..We hope to have this on the site as well...Hear what Murphy, a killer vocalist himself does to my songs at various clubs around town and down the shore..Its truly amazing although I still look better in a dress than he does..LOL
