The Assistant

The Assistant started in the summer of 1999 with 5 people who wanted to make interesting music with very different influences. Because of the varied influences, the band's sound is hard to put into one particular genre. Lyrically and personally, The Assistant focused on issues of political and social relevance. Song topics range with issues such as sexual abuse, police brutality, imperialism, commodification, women's rights, and more. As a band, the assistant felt it was important to apply your ideals to every aspect of your life at all times, not just while behind a microphone. Last but not least, the main objective of this band's existance was to create a positive environment and maintain a positive state of mind.
