Like so many of my generation my introduction to the blues was indirect that is coming from Cream and John Mayall in the sixties and then working backwards. The first Albums I bought were Lightnin Hopkins Blues in a Bottle, Blind Willie Mc Tell The Early Years, and of course Robert Johnson King of the Delta Blues (an incredible album). Then the search for the blues took me to Tommy Johnson and Cool drink of Water (I asked her for water and she gave me gasoline)and big road blues. I discovered the sound of the piedmont with Blind Boy Fuller and the rich tradition of the songsters with John Jackson and Ledbelly. Through Yazoo records I listened to sound ot Memphis Jug Band and Cannon's Jum Stompers and further expanded my Blind Willie Mc Tell Collection. Still to come was the great sound of Lousianna and New Orleans with Slim Harpo and Guitar Slim and Silas Hogan, Lazy Lester. Following the blues trail on the great migration north from the Delta to Chicago I reveled in the way the Delta Bluesmen adapted to life in the big city. They brought with them their gift of music which has flurished and turned Chicago into what some people may say is the Capital of the Blues. Chicago should be rightly proud of it's adopted sons. What can I say about Texas. Well from T-bone to Stevie and all points in between it swings and rocks with the unmistakeable sound of Smokin Joe and Bnois, Mike Morgan and Lee McBee, Jimmy Vaughan and one of my favourites Johnny Nicholas. Then there is the West Coast harp players it goes on and on. And finally a Big thank you to all you Blues Musicians out there who suffer for there art. The adventure continues thanks again for everyone who has made this a life long passion for me.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
