My name is Christie Baker. You may have seen me on "Wife Swap" and "Oprah". I have been cooking for many years - for friends, family, and clients. I started a business that was all e-mail about four years ago. On Fridays I would send out the next week’s menu to everyone on my email list. My friends would place their orders and I would put the food outside in my fridge in the garage. They would pick up their food and leave the money in an envelope in the fridge! The garage was open between 10am and 7pm; then the garage would be closed and reopen the next business day. This was wonderfully successful. The food ranged from plate lunches, casseroles and desserts to catered parties. I also worked at my friend’s deli for two years and did catering for her. That was also very successful - and a lot of fun!!!I was approached about doing my brownie and candy business from my dear friends Jere and Jack back in March or April. For a couple of years, Jere had been talking to folks all over the country about his brownie idea – not only looking for the best recipes, but searching for that special personality everyone needed to know - when one day he came to my house and said how crazy he had been. The perfect person for the job was ME! We talked about the seemingly endless opportunities - and now our delicious brownies and candies will be a fabulous internet business in a couple of weeks! They are all very supportive and have helped with all the recipes. It has been really fun developing the recipes. You wouldn’t believe what all we have been through to get the recipes fabulous and the business in place.When the opportunity came up to shoot this pilot I was soooo excited.
