About Me

CIARA CORRCiara Corr, one of the first artists signed to NBA Legend Earl “The Pearl” Monroe’s Reverse spin Records, is about to take the music industry by storm with her exotic look, rhythmic dancing and sweet, sultry voice. “Ciara Corr has a certain light about her that attracts the attention of others. It’s her spirit.” “She’s out here on her own. She’s by herself and she’s making it”, said Marita Green, Ciara’s manager.Ciara Corr, born in Long Island, NY to a Puerto Rican mother who struggled with drugs and an Irish father who was absent most of her childhood, was in and out of foster homes since she was 10-months-old. In addition to an unstable home, she also battled an identity crisis and feelings of rejection and abandonment. “Being born biracial, you obviously are going to deal with some issues with fitting in. You don’t know what group you fit in with.”Ciara Corr’s pain and confusion is expressed through her music. Her music reveals a journey of self-discovery and self-expression, something everyone can relate to. “I’m trying to find myself. I’m still searching. I think that’s a lifetime thing. I know more about myself now, but I’m evolving. I may find myself now and next year find that I’m somewhere different in life. I think everyone can relate to that and I hope my music helps people get through those troubling times,” she said. Her first single “B-Girl” is a club-banger that could easily become the anthem for all young women who are comfortable in their own skin and don’t need material possessions or a glamorous life to define who they are or make them feel worthy. The songs lyrics, “I’m just a B-girl/ gotta be me girl/ gotta be so free,” flow so perfectly over a strong R&B/Hip Hop beat with a unique pop-like, electronic sound that is sure to get you on your feet. The song ends with, “We don’t need no diamonds/ Keep your glamorous life.” Ciara Corr said she really relates to this song. “When I first read the lyrics to this song, I was like wow, that’s me. It really hit home,” she said. “I don’t try to be anything I’m not. I’m comfortable in my jeans and sneakers.”The song was produced King and co-written by King and Shalea Hurd. “Ciara Corr’s that type of girl. She’s seen some hard times and she stays true to who she is and that’s what a B-girl is. She doesn’t need to keep up with what everyone else is doing. Ciara Corr is beautiful and fly no matter what she is wearing. She’s a B-girl,” said King.Ciara Corr said Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez of TLC, has been a huge inspiration for her own songwriting. “I really connect with Left Eye, I go over and over her lyrics. She’s brilliant,” Ciara Corr said. “I hope to be as influential as she was to people. People weren’t always ready to hear what Left Eye was saying. Most people only want to believe what’s tangible. The world just wasn’t ready for her.”As an artist Ciara Corr said she wants to inspire people to open their minds and not fear change and growth. She wants her art to eventually make a difference in people’s lives and in the world. “If you can change the way of the mind, you can change the heart,” she said. “I just want to inspire people. When people are going through a rough time, I want them to say that my song inspired them and helped them get through it.”
